Winter camping (camping hivernal) is one of Quebecs overlooked gems. A growing number of operators stay open year-round, offering heated yurts, four-season prospector tents, and even insulated RV sites with electrical and heated water hookups.
Best for: cross-country skiers, snowmobilers, ice fishers, winter hikers.
What to expect: short days, dry cold (–15 to –30 °C typical), excellent stargazing, near-empty trails.
Equipment essentials: –20 °C sleeping bag (minimum), insulated boots, layering system, headlamp with spare batteries, traction devices.
