From November to April, most Quebec campgrounds are closed, but a growing minority stay open for winter operations. Yurts and four-season cabins fill the gap for those wanting outdoor sleep without the full backcountry kit.
Best for: cross-country skiing, snowmobiling on the FCMQ trail network, ice fishing, snowshoeing, photography of frozen waterfalls.
RV owners: this is winterization season. November is the deadline in southern Quebec; mid-October north of the St. Lawrence. See our winterization checklist.
What to pack: –30 °C sleeping bag for winter camping, layered base/mid/shell system, insulated boots, traction.
